They changed my contract.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Used to be first come first served on getting a site. NOW ALL the good sites are taken with permanent campers and the corporation has decided to change my contract and assigned me a site which is low voltage, unlevel and no sewer and now want to charge me for a sewer wagon pickup. Di not purchase a membership because they won't honor it.

Just can't use it the way had hoped.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We have to go out of our way to get to the sites. Not convenient in many cases. Do not like the wait time between trips. We always have to take 3 days to get any where and it would be nice to see more TI sites. We got a Good Sam membership, an RA membership, a TA membership and several other memberships since we can't use our TT membership all the time, we want to. Don't plan on getting help in the weekends or holidays.

Contract violations galore

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Instituted suddenly, assigned sites at 3 including Colorado River camp. Contract and ads and reservations info all state FCFS choose site upon arrival.

Now cannot camp in desired atmosphere, must camp as assigned next to druggies and drinkers, partiers and errant children, speed demons and intruders, in swampland or under unkept trees or next to river or noisy areas. Virtually all of the 30amp sites are terrible, old, power and flood issues, 1/2 no sewer.

New section will be restricted to 50amp , all sewer, paved road. Apparently buying bigger and bigger rigs, despite "guaranteed only 30amps" puts you on the special population- guaranteed Newest sites and FHU despite contract.

Upgraded to membership from Zone Passes. LOST access to the WI camps.

New sales guy is contradicting us that have same T T access to all parks. Is ignorant if the facts: WI has no T T parks. All WI parks are Encore parks. Must now purchase the Trails Collection optional add on, at $400 a year (cost doubled in 3 years since inception).

So he keeps telling us that we "didn't lose any T T parks" he is either ignorant of the Midwest Zone parks included that are *not* T T parks but were in our Zone camps and we lost access to when we upgraded, or is doing the trick verbiage that T T sales (realtors) always do and comparing apples to oranges.

The fact remains, we have Zero Wisconsin access under our upgraded $10,000 membership plan and must pay $400 extra each year in order to get into a WI Encore camp but with severe reservation and reservation window, stay, and site restrictions not applicable to our T T membership camps. Buyer Beware.

Need to be refund thousand trails

Hi, I'm sending this email to 1000 trai was asked to send an email asking for refund. Me and my fiancé were members there and 1000 trails.

Member services took a payment off my card of eighty two dollars, and then four days later decided to Decided that they wanted to close our membership and terminate us Due to Lake, ensure by 1000 trials and issue. We had there with an employee. We are not happy at all with the services you guys provided. I would like to be refunded.

I sent out this email like 3 times now I was told I can get my refund once I send out the email. You guys took the money off my card and decided to terminate us 4 days later. After you guys took money off my cand we are not happy about this whatsoever, we were lied to in this The campground end member services lied to us and misled us, and if this issue is not taken care of within the next two-day's. When we were supposed to be staying there for 2 weeks.

Book a reservation to stay there for 2 weeks. And only was there 3 or 4 days. If the member services told me everything was fixed and straightened out but its not. I'm not complaining, I just would like to be refunded, thank you.

Not only was I lied to the other campground destroyed our car. Putting our belongings until the vehicle damaged my vehicle. Not only should I be sewing them. I should really be pressing charges.

But I'm not going to just refund my money. And I'll leave it at that.

And I was overcharged by the way, from member services. And if I'm not refunded immediately, you will be hearing from my lawyer today.

Thank you, have a nice day. You can reach me by myself or by email

The solid waste sewer ejector pumps are not installed correctly. The 7 foot crack is not deep enough. It is leaking sewer, gas at ground level, which is very very dangerous one as opposed to an explosion hazard and a biological hazard The units are leaking, methane methane, Shai, Sofi, methane dioxide, sulfur dioxide, every kind of sewer gas there is and they are not supposed to. They are sealed systems and they are not installed correctly.

BUYER BEWARE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was planning on taking camper to Forest Lake and spoke to a lady up there. was told its 4100 for the year and she gave me some sites that were open, but the lady that would have to process and get all taken care of was on the phone.

I left message, called back the next day and the inital person told me I would have to sign up for the membership before anything could be started. So I went on the site right then, Left another message for the lady since they said she was at lunch. Again no return call, waited 2 days and called again and she was off that day, called the next day and they said she was with someone. Left yet another message and told her I already paid for the membership so I needed to get this resolved that week and get the camper up there.

Fast forward 10 more calls and no return call, she was never available to speak to me, never would call me back. Contacted customer support and they dont give a crap, they told me Im locked into a 2 year contract and I am not getting out of it. I told them that was unacceptble since Thousand trail breached, not me. I gave them almost 3 weeks to call me back before I had to go another route with my camper.

They dont care care cause they already got me locked in. I would never go to another campground by these people.

I mean want to charge me over 4000 for the year and membership too without any kind of customer support. I have contacted an attorney and will be filing every complaint I can find to let people know BEWARE, its abot the money for them not building relationships!!!

You're wrong about those other companies! They are not pre-paid camping fees, they are membership fees that entitle you to a small (10-20%) discount of the daily campsite fee at affiliated camps.

The Camp Pass you purchased extremely cheaply permits up to 14 days of camping at a time for free, at any of the sister parks in each Zone purchased. There are 5 zones, about 100-120 parks. Forest Lake is in the Southeast Zone. You must be out of the system for 7 days.

Then you can camp for another 14 days for free. That gives you potentially 2/3 of 52 weeks/year that you camp free, if you choose to stay 14 days then be 'out' for 7 days, then repeat , for an entire 12 months. If the daily campsite fee averages, say, $40 per night, then you would have paid 14x $40 = $560 (+ tax if applicable), if you did that ONLY 5x in a year that = 5x $560 = $2800. The Camp Pass "regular price" is about $650, discounted it's ~ $500 for first year.

You SAVE ~ $2300 having the pre-paid Pass and any tax is on the Pass fee only at purchase. Getting a 10-20% discount by being a Good Sam "member", at $40/night gets you $4 -8 off/night, or $56-112 off for the same 5 weeks of camping (and only if if they allow the discount for the full stay!). You would be paying $2240- **** for those 5 week (+ tax).

You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts! There's a lot wrong with the ELS owners of Thousand Trails, but the value of the Pass is NOT one of their wrongs...

Oh, and I didn't even include the $$$ you have to pay for the GS 'membership', so your cost is actually higher

Guest

Am not an employee or representative of that park or system, but do have factual information about the programs. 1) The "membership fee" sounds like you purchased the annual camping pass but chose the option to make payments (interest-free) which is only offered in exchange for the 2 year 'subscription'.

The one year option requires payment in full at sign up. Clearly explained on the purchase page of the website. YOUR BAD, not theirs. The Pass you are required to purchase (minimum level of purchases available) allows you free camping for all member parks for up to 2 weeks at a time.

You could have used that option to help your immediate need and perform the remaining rental tasks on site. 2) The "annual site" rental requires a mandatory 'housing application' with $100 background check fee. Doesn't sound as if you went through that process. 3) Once the background/application has 'passed muster', including a credit check, then the camp is authorized to offer you a site annual rental, and when you accept it you are required to put down a $500 deposit to lock it in.

Process is like renting an apartment--following Fair Housing guidelines and performing security/credit procedures. 4) You CANNOT be an annual renter until all steps are completed. Camps MAY offer you a monthly site rental until you're approved--IF the camp allows monthly rentals, some do not. 5) Generally the office manager deals with annual rentals and explains the process and answers any questions.

Sounds as if you spoke with an office front-desk worker or after-hours / entry-gate park ranger not the manager.

6) As an aside, if you purchased the annual pass "on sale", you'll be hit with the "regular" price for the 2nd year renewal. The 'discount price' is only applicable for the initial year of the Pass.

Sales team gossiping to non-employee campers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Sales people gossiping at campsite in Williamsburg camp that revealed confidential business information which was stated that occurred between Office and 3rd party campers not present during gossiping session. Gossip was likely inaccurate, at best, given the written handout information that delineates camp action actions for conduct gossiped.

Gossip assigned blame to 4th party campers for causing the reported actions by Office in reaction to 3rd party stated behavior.

5th party campers became enraged based solely on the gossip. 6th party campers disbelieved the accuracy of the gossip as it was presented, referred to own observations of managerial and staff style of managing and interacting with camping guests that created serious doubt about validity of the gossip.

Lack of professional and personal integrity, lack of respect for maintaining confidentiality of non-public information gained as sales employees about camp guests is not in doubt.

User's recommendation: Business employee friendliness is not friendship.

*6th party's observation* is consistent with our interactions the week we stayed there. Lying and getting caught in the lie likely wouldn't have a favorable outcome for the liars, though. Must be more to the story that wasn't gossipworthy?

Differentiation of friendly not friend is spot on, for any business-customer relationship.

Package fees instituted are discriminatory

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Incoming essential repair parts or camping supplies for individual use (not RV techs ordering for profit) are now $5-10 each package. Most cannot be picked up at stores.Yet many EBay, etc. vendors living permanently, annually or as full time traveling are running businesses from their sites and have $0 fees for mailing dozens of commercial packages per month to their customers.

You didn't mention (in the body text), so the name of your camp is unknown. Have been to a few Camps that have pool bankers hours -- Three Flags and Lake Magic, in Central FL come to mind. One did post that the camp's restrictions were based on the county requirements for the pool operating license/certificate.

Bordering on fraud

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We bought a a camping membership for one year and paid for it on our credit card. Thirty days (per the contract) we sent in notice to cancel our membership when the year was over.

Instead of cancelling our membership they began to bill us monthly for a new year. Each month for three months we disputed these charges and each time our credit card credited our account.

Now, we have been receiving calls claiming that our payment is late. Do not do business with Thousand Trails, their business practices border on fraud.

Expounding upon your Poor Business Practices statement and cautionary Buyer Beware advice: Lack of sales people's professional and personal integrity, lack of respect for confidentiality of non-public information gained as employees at Williamsburg camp where we were privy to their gossip about a 3rd party's camping situation that reportedly occurred between office staff and that 3rd party, for which the gossips' placed blame on a non-present 4th party and from which the validity of the gossip as stated was extremely questionable as to validity and accuracy.

Guest

That "fraud" extends to the after-sale membership contracts as well. Repeated rule-breaking by same parties without resolution.

The "contract " is only enforced when it comes to TT getting money... the corporation acts like sharks.

Effective Enforcement of member behavior rules, is almost nonexistent despite being contractual obligations on the corporation and the members. If you think your buying into a pleasant and respectful environment, think again.

Unable to book any get aways

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The customer service at this company is one of the worst I've ever encountered at all levels: Two weeks ago, my PIN was changed for no reason. It took them a week and many calls, chats and emails to get someone to reset my PIN.

Once that issue was solved, I was able to log in, but still couldn't make any reservations. I called customer service and no matter what time of the day I called if I press the reservations key, it'd tell me that they were too busy to talk to me, but if I pressed the key to make a payment, I'd get an agent ASAP, but after explaining my dilemma, whoever answered would say "I'm sorry, i cannot help you" and then transfer me back to the recorder. Finally, after sending several emails to customer service, they'd said that the campground I was choosing was not part of my membership, even though I've been there before as part of their plan and after sending them copies of what their system was telling me. Finally, someone agreed with what I was saying but asked me to go back and call their C.S.

800 number knowing that I had told them before that those people in there are totally useless. So here I'm two weeks later still trying to book a getaway at any of their RV campgrounds. Oh, BTW, unless you buy their most expensive packages, don't think for moment that they'll give you access to the nice campgrounds.

They'll only allow you to go to their *** places, like for example, Soledad Canyon in Acton, CA or Las Vegas (which, BTW, it's the only one you're going to get there). You get the *** 3 ones in AZ and in CO and some good one in northern CA, but if you live in SOCAL like me, you're going to have 5 or 6 hours of driving before getting there.

There's only 1 TT in NV and 1 in AZ. CO was an Encore dump that no longer is part of the TC, but ELS just 'bought' a park in CO under TT membership.

Guest

Yes but beware... it was a membership campground and the members are being catered to, not the TT members.

There are, and I quote from the website, "sites being set aside for use by TT members..." 'while still accommodating all of the prior membership full access and usage' (paraphrased).

In other words, TT members will have the worst sites designated for their use. There also was a high-use restriction that encompasses almost the entire period the park will be open for TT reservations.
